Before travelling to Hungary
Before travelling to Hungary, we recommend checking not only the validity of your e-Matrica but also the mandatory equipment of your vehicle.
For a safe and trouble-free journey, it is advisable to have the following items prepared:
- a reflective vest for each passenger,
- a warning triangle,
- a first aid kit,
- winter tyres when required by current winter conditions.
- Use daytime running lights or dipped headlights throughout the day for all motor vehicles.
Checks on Hungarian roads are common, so we recommend verifying compliance with all legal requirements and driver obligations before departure.
Tips for travelling in Hungary
- An e-Matrica can be purchased with immediate validity or with a validity start date set for a later time.
- Before purchasing, we recommend carefully checking the vehicle registration number and vehicle category.
- Hungary also offers a regional e-Matrica for selected counties, which may be a cost-effective option for frequent travel.
Speed limits:
- 130 km/h on motorways, 110 km/h on expressways.
- 90 km/h outside urban areas
